ARTIST ‣ Marika Lombardi: Hautboist and Director, OBOE 2020

Born in Italy in 1967, Marika Lombardi studied at the National School of Music in Milan where she was awarded the first prize for oboe and for chamber music after studying with M. Possidoni. Her career commenced in 1988 with a successful solo tour in that year. She left Italy to study in Paris and gained diverse experience from a number of schools where she was awarded several first prizes (Conservatoire National de Région de St Maur, Ecole Nationale de Musique de Montreuil, Ville de Paris). To perfect her technique, Marika studied with masters such as Pierre Pierlot, Hansjörg Schellembergher, Maurice Bourgue, Ingo Goritzki, Lothar Koch et Sergiu Celibidache. A prize winner at several international oboe and chamber music competitions, she has been awarded a distinction at the international chamber music commpetition of Paris. Additionnally, Marika ihas been a prize winner at the Cziffra foundation. Marika Lombardi plays regularly in chamber music and orchestra, in France and Europe, and gives master classes.
Since 2000, Marika has been the Artistic Director of both the International Music Academy and Festival « Risonanze Armoniche » in Lasino (Italy), and of the oboe festival in Paris « OBOE ». She has also been invited to different music festivals in Europe. Marika Lombardi has been teaching the oboe in Paris since 1992, at la Schola Cantorum, the Conservatoire Municipal du Centre de Paris, and also at the École national de musique in Pantin, the Chantilly Music School, and since 2007, at the CRR d'Aubervilliers. In 1999 she obtained the State Diploma in Teaching (France). Marika Lombardi plays on a Howarth oboe.
